The ATEN US4224 is a compact USB peripheral sharing switch designed for home offices, shared workstations and professional environments where two computers need access to the same USB devices.

It allows up to four USB Type-A peripherals to be shared between two computers equipped with compatible USB Type-A connections. Suitable peripherals can include a keyboard, mouse, printer, USB headset, camera, scanner or USB storage device.

The US4224 supports USB 2.0 data transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps. ATEN InstaSync technology provides fast switching of USB control between the two connected computers, helping users move between systems without repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting peripheral cables.

The active computer is selected using the built-in pushbutton on the unit. Orange LED indicators show which connected computer currently has control of the shared peripherals.

Plug-and-play operation allows the switch to work with compatible Windows, macOS and Linux systems without requiring additional drivers or software. The hot-pluggable design allows compatible computers and peripherals to be connected or removed without shutting down the switch.

The unit normally receives power through its connection to a host computer. A compatible 5V/1A USB power adapter can be connected to the USB-C DC input when additional power is required by connected peripherals.

Only one connected computer can control the shared USB peripherals at a time.

Both computers must have compatible USB Type-A connections.

Only one connected computer can control the shared USB peripherals at a time. The active computer is selected using the pushbutton on the unit.

The US4224 supports USB 2.0 transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps. It does not provide USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds.

Peripheral performance may be limited to the USB 2.0 standard, even when a connected peripheral supports a faster USB version.

Some peripherals with higher power requirements may require a compatible 5V/1A USB power adapter connected to the USB-C DC input. The USB power adapter is not included.

The US4224 is designed for USB peripheral sharing. It does not provide video output, network connectivity or USB Power Delivery charging.
