The RCT ADP-MDPHDMI Mini DisplayPort to HDMI 4K Adapter is designed to connect a compatible Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1 or 2 source device to an HDMI monitor, television, projector or supported 4K display.

It provides a practical display-connectivity solution for users who need to connect older laptops, desktop computers, selected Apple devices, Microsoft Surface devices or other Mini DisplayPort-enabled systems to modern HDMI displays.

The adapter supports video resolutions of up to 4K × 2K at 30Hz or 1920 × 1080 at 120Hz, depending on the connected source device, graphics hardware, HDMI display, HDMI cable and system configuration.

Its cable uses 30AWG stranded copper conductors with durable nylon braiding. The black metallic adapter housing provides a clean and durable finish suitable for regular office, home and travel use.

Hot Plug Detect support allows compatible devices and displays to recognise the connection without requiring the system to be switched off before connecting the adapter.

This adapter is uni-directional and only supports signal transmission from a Mini DisplayPort source device to an HDMI display. It cannot convert an HDMI source signal to Mini DisplayPort.

Before ordering, check the physical port and display-output specifications of the connected device. Mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 1 or 2 use the same connector shape, while Thunderbolt 3 and later versions commonly use a USB-C connector and are not compatible with this adapter.

Compatibility Note

Check the display-output port on the connected source device before ordering. This adapter requires a Mini DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 1 or Thunderbolt 2 output.

Mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 1 or 2 use the same physical connector shape. Compatibility still depends on the connected device supporting video output through that port.

This adapter is not compatible with USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 ports, even though adapters for those ports may sometimes be marketed using similar terminology.

The adapter is uni-directional and only works from a Mini DisplayPort source device to an HDMI display. It does not convert an HDMI source to a Mini DisplayPort monitor.

It is not compatible with the original Microsoft Surface or Surface 2 devices running Windows RT.

The maximum available resolution and refresh rate depend on the source device, graphics hardware, operating system, HDMI cable and connected display.

A separate HDMI cable is required to connect the adapter to an HDMI display and is not included unless otherwise stated.
