The Synology DiskStation DS2422+ is a scalable 12-bay desktop NAS powered by an AMD Ryzen processor with 4GB ECC memory, PCIe expansion and support for up to 24 drives with an optional DX1222 Expansion Unit.

Product Description

The Synology DiskStation DS2422+ is a high-capacity 12-bay network attached storage system designed for business file storage, backup, collaboration, surveillance and virtualisation workloads.

It is powered by an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor with four cores, eight processing threads and a 2.2GHz operating frequency.

The system includes 4GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory and supports expansion to a maximum of 32GB using compatible Synology memory modules.

Twelve hot-swappable drive bays support compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drives, 2.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives.

Storage capacity can be expanded from twelve to twenty-four drives by connecting one optional Synology DX1222 Expansion Unit through the built-in Mini-SAS HD expansion port.

Four Gigabit Ethernet ports support Link Aggregation, network failover, load balancing and separate network configurations with compatible equipment.

A PCIe Gen3 expansion slot supports selected Synology 10GbE and 25GbE network cards, M.2 NVMe SSD adapter cards and combination network-plus-cache adapter cards.

The DS2422+ does not include built-in M.2 slots. NVMe SSD caching requires a compatible separately sold PCIe adapter card and supported M.2 NVMe SSDs.

Synology lists sequential performance of up to 2,201MB/s read and 1,383MB/s write in supported test configurations using suitable high-speed networking and storage.

Synology DiskStation Manager provides tools for file sharing, business backup, snapshots, collaboration, virtualisation, iSCSI storage and surveillance management.

Surveillance Station includes two default device licences and supports up to 40 compatible IP cameras, depending on the recording configuration and other active workloads.

The DS2422+ is supplied without storage drives, memory upgrades, expansion units, PCIe cards or M.2 SSDs.

Please confirm that all storage drives, memory modules, expansion units and PCIe cards are officially compatible with the Synology DS2422+ before ordering.

The DS2422+ supports:

The DS2422+ has one PCIe expansion slot, so only one compatible PCIe card can be installed at a time.

Installing a dedicated network card prevents a separate M2D20 adapter from being installed simultaneously. The E10M20-T1 combines 10GbE networking and two M.2 NVMe slots on one card.

Compatible M.2 NVMe SSDs installed through an adapter card are intended for supported SSD-cache configurations. M.2 NVMe storage pools are not listed as supported for this model.

The front drive bays support hot-swapping when permitted by the current RAID and storage-pool condition.

All memory modules in a multi-module configuration must be identical and use the same model number.

The available storage capacity will be lower than the total manufacturer-rated drive capacity because of RAID, formatting, system partitions and file-system data.

Actual performance depends on the installed drives, RAID configuration, network equipment, PCIe card, memory, client hardware and active applications.

RAID helps protect against selected drive failures but does not replace an independent backup.
