The Synology DiskStation DS925+ is a scalable 4-bay desktop NAS with an AMD Ryzen processor, 4GB ECC memory, dual 2.5GbE networking, two M.2 NVMe slots and expansion support for up to nine drives.

Product Description

The Synology DiskStation DS925+ is a 4-bay network attached storage system designed for centralised business storage, backup, file sharing, collaboration, virtualisation and surveillance.

It is powered by an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor with four cores, eight processing threads and a 2.2GHz operating frequency.

The system includes 4GB of DDR4 ECC SODIMM memory and supports expansion to a maximum of 32GB using compatible Synology memory modules.

Four hot-swappable drive bays support compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives.

Two built-in M.2 2280 NVMe slots can be used for compatible SSD caching or supported M.2 storage pools without occupying the main SATA drive bays.

Storage capacity can be expanded from four to nine SATA drive bays by connecting one optional Synology DX525 Expansion Unit.

Dual built-in 2.5GbE network ports support Link Aggregation, network failover and load balancing with compatible network equipment. Synology lists sequential performance of up to 522MB/s read and 565MB/s write under its specified test conditions.

Synology DiskStation Manager provides tools for file sharing, private-cloud access, data backup, photo management, collaboration, virtualisation and surveillance.

Surveillance Station includes two default device licences and supports up to 40 compatible IP cameras, depending on the recording configuration and other active workloads.

The DS925+ is supplied without storage drives, M.2 SSDs, memory upgrades or the optional expansion unit.

Compatibility Note

Confirm that all storage drives, M.2 SSDs, memory modules and expansion accessories are officially compatible with the Synology DS925+ before ordering.

The DS925+ supports:

• Up to four compatible internal SATA drives
• Up to two compatible M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs
• One Synology DX525 Expansion Unit
• Synology D4ES04-4G, D4ES03-8G and D4ES03-16G memory modules

M.2 storage pools require supported Synology-verified NVMe SSDs. The M.2 slots do not support hot-swapping.

The SATA drive bays support hot-swapping when permitted by the current RAID and storage-pool condition.

The USB Type-C expansion port is intended for the DX525 Expansion Unit and should not be treated as a general-purpose USB-C port.

When both memory slots are populated, the installed modules must be identical and use the same model number.

A volume larger than 108TB requires 32GB of installed memory and a supported storage configuration.

Available storage capacity will be lower than the combined manufacturer-rated drive capacity because of RAID, formatting, system partitions and file-system data.

RAID can protect against selected drive failures but does not replace an independent backup.
