The Synology DiskStation DS425+ is a compact 4-bay desktop NAS with an Intel quad-core processor, expandable DDR4 memory, 2.5GbE networking and two M.2 NVMe slots for SSD caching or supported storage pools.

Product Description

The Synology DS425+ provides centralised file storage, backup, private-cloud access, collaboration, photo management and surveillance for home offices and small businesses.

It features an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor, 2GB DDR4 non-ECC memory expandable to 6GB, four hot-swappable SATA drive bays and two M.2 2280 NVMe slots.

One 2.5GbE port and one 1GbE port provide flexible network connectivity, with sequential performance of up to 278MB/s read and 281MB/s write under Synology test conditions.

Synology DiskStation Manager includes tools such as Synology Drive, Synology Photos, Active Backup Suite, Hyper Backup, Snapshot Replication and Surveillance Station.

Storage drives, M.2 SSDs and the optional memory upgrade are not included.

Compatibility Note

Confirm that all SATA drives, M.2 SSDs and memory modules are compatible with the Synology DS425+ before ordering.

The DS425+ supports up to four compatible SATA drives, two M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs and one optional Synology D4NS01-4G memory module.

M.2 SSDs do not support hot-swapping. Creating an M.2 storage pool requires approved Synology NVMe SSDs, and SSD cache compatibility does not automatically confirm storage-pool compatibility.

The DS425+ does not support Synology expansion units or PCIe network cards.

Available capacity will be reduced by RAID, formatting, system partitions and file-system data. RAID does not replace an independent backup.
