Product Description

The Synology RX1223RP 12-Bay Rackmount Expansion Unit provides reliable, high-capacity storage expansion for compatible Synology RackStation and SA Series systems.

Its twelve hot-swappable drive bays support compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives, allowing businesses to expand existing storage pools or create additional volumes as capacity requirements grow.

The RX1223RP connects to a compatible host system through the included Mini-SAS HD expansion cable. Its plug-and-play design and integration with Synology DiskStation Manager help simplify deployment, drive monitoring, RAID management and online storage expansion.

Redundant power supplies help maintain operation if one power source fails. Four replaceable 80mm system fans and modular drive trays help reduce maintenance time and support continued availability in professional storage environments.

The RX1223RP uses a 2U rackmount chassis and supports installation in a compatible four-post 19-inch rack using the optional Synology RKS-02 sliding rail kit.

A compatible SA6400 system can support up to eight RX1223RP expansion units. Compatible RS2423 Series systems support one RX1223RP expansion unit.

Please note: The RX1223RP is a storage expansion unit and cannot operate as a standalone NAS. A compatible Synology host system and storage drives are required.

The RX1223RP is an expansion enclosure and does not include a processor, memory, network interface or standalone operating system. It must be connected to a compatible Synology NAS or storage server.

Synology recommends creating storage volumes using drives physically located within the same NAS or expansion unit for better performance, rather than spanning a single volume across the host NAS and expansion unit.

Only compatible 3.5-inch SATA hard drives and 2.5-inch SATA solid-state drives should be installed.

Storage drives are not included. The available capacity will depend on the installed drives, RAID configuration, formatting and system requirements.

The RKS-02 rail kit is sold separately.
